May 20th-The Climate Center: 2026 priorities and Sacramento in action

Barry Vesser, Chief Program Officer at The Climate Center, will share the organization’s 2026 policy priorities and highlights from their April Policy Summit and Lobby Day in Sacramento. Barry has been with The Climate Center since 2005 and now leads its program and policy teams. He is also the force behind the organization’s Community Energy Resilience project, which led to a new $170 million investment program by the California Energy Commission in 2022.

Barry will update us on the organization’s 2026 Policy Priorities. These include:

• Carbon Drawdown focused on nature based solutions (AB 2184)
• Community Decarbonization focused on Vehicle to Grid (SB 1282) and allowing distributed energy resources to qualify for Resource Adequacy (SB 913)
• Rule changes to the Cap and Invest program and use of Greenhouse Gas Reduction funds
• Enhanced Geothermal
• Highlights of their April Policy Summit.
