Jana Haehl, Director, Corte Madera

Jana has been a board member since 1999 and was MCL’s President for three years.  Focused on environmental issues since the early 1970s, Jana organized local grassroots groups whose efforts were instrumental in achieving permanent preservation of wetlands and ridgelands in Corte Madera. She represented MCL on the first Countywide Plan Committee and later chaired Marin LAFCO. As a member of Barbara Boxer’s Congressional staff from 1982 to 1995, Jana worked on environmental issues and press communications. She has served on the boards of the Farallones Marine Sanctuary Association, the Tamalpais Conservation Club, and the Southern Marin branch of the American Association of University Women.

A former Mayor of Corte Madera, she is a founder and former president of the Corte Madera Community Foundation, on whose board she continues to serve.  She is also an active member of several other civic organizations and environmental groups.
