San Rafael Rock Quarry (SRRQ)

On October 27, 2009, the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to certify the San Rafael Rock Quarry's controversial Environmental Impact Report (EIR) tied to the application by the Dutra Group to extend the quarry's operating permit another 17 years.  The permit would allow the quarry to dig the pit from its current depth of 200 feet below sea level to 400 feet below.  MCL supports the concerns of the Point San Pedro Road Coalition, which focus on truck traffic and the health effects of crystalline silica-laden dust, and urges the Board of Supervisors to consider a reduced operation permit as an alternative.

Marin Conservation League offered oral comments at the meeting, which was attended by more than 300 people.
